"La scienza al servizio del benessere e della salute mentale" is the name of the public encounter dedicated to key public mental health issues concerning the promotion of mental well-being and the prevention and treatment of mental disorders. It will be held on Wednesday, 4 September 2024, at the West Campus Auditorium of Università della Svizzera italiana at 5:30 pm.

The encounter will feature Dr. Benedetto Zefiro Mellacqua, medical director of the Cantonal Psychiatric Clinic and a specialist in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, prof. Andrea Raballo, professor of psychiatry at USI and MD member of the cantonal socio-psychiatric organisation (Department of Health and Social Affairs, Division of Public Health), Professors Corrado Barbui and Marianna Purgato, from the Department of Neuroscience, Biomedicine and Movement at the University of Verona, and the head of the project, Prof. Emiliano Albanese.

The event will be open to the public to foster dialogue between the academic community and the general public. "La scienza al servizio del benessere e della salute mentale" will be held in Italian on 4 September 2024 at 5:30 pm at the West Campus Lugano Auditorium.

To organise the event, Professor Emiliano Albanese, director of the Institute of Public Health (IPH) at USI, was awarded SNSF Scientific Exchange funding: a funding programme aimed at researchers who plan to organise a scientific event in Switzerland, invite colleagues from abroad for a research visit to Switzerland or visit their colleagues abroad. The project is being carried out in collaboration with the Psychiatry branch of the Department of Neuroscience, Biomedicine and Movement, University of Verona.
